We are pleased to announce that our school charity of the year is Unicef.

Following a long process of carefully researching charities that are supporting current causes, the House Captains presented their ideas to all children and teachers in their House. Following this, the shortlisted charities were picked by lolly stick, leaving the four contenders:

British Red Cross – Nugent – presented by Delilah and Rufus

Rewilding Britain – Rolfe – presented by Merlin and Mrs Morgan

Unicef – Knight – presented by Dylan and Charlie

World Wildlife Fund (WWF) – Wentworth – presented by George & Saul

The House Captains all worked really hard to put together informative presentations, explaining what each charity does, why we should support them and also some of their creative fundraising charity day ideas, including guess the number of sweets in a jar, throwing wet sponges at teachers, sponsored colour run, a really wild festival day, a nature sculpture trail, cinema night, bouncy castle bouncing competition, non-uniform & crazy hair day.

All the House Captains presented their slides with confidence and enthusiasm, leaving everyone with a difficult decision to make.

The whole school’s votes were counted and verified by independent adjudicator, Mrs Moser, it was very close between all four worthy charities, but congratulations go to Knight House and Unicef.

Unicef is a UK charity entirely funded by supporters, they provide humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide and protect children’s rights in the UK and internationally. They are helping children affected by conflicts such as the war in Ukraine, natural disasters such as the recent floods in Pakistan as well as lots of other children worldwide who need protecting.

All the House Captains will all work together throughout the year to arrange charity days and fundraising events to support this very deserving charity.
