Headteacher Appointment Announced
Message from Stuart Rolland, Chief Executive Europe, Cognita Schools, 6th July 2020
I am delighted to confirm the appointment of Mrs Carolyn Moss as Headteacher of St Margaret’s Preparatory School with immediate effect.
At this most testing of times for the country, Mrs Moss has provided superb leadership to the school community as it has responded admirably to the unprecedented challenges presented by recent events. This has been reflected in the extremely positive response of both children and families at the school to Mrs Moss’s stewardship as Acting Head, with 98% of parents agreeing that the school did a good job of providing online teaching and learning, and 100% of parents subsequently confirming that the return to school process was well managed by the school.
As many of you will be aware, Mrs Moss has enjoyed an illustrious career at St Margaret’s in recent years, serving at various points as Head of Prep, Director of Studies, Deputy Head and, most recently, as Acting Head. As a Team Inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), she has a keen awareness of outstanding schooling and is thus particularly well placed to lead St Margaret’s towards excellence.
Prior to her teaching career, Mrs Moss graduated in Mathematics and Economics, achieved a Masters in Economics and then an MBA before working as a management consultant for over a decade, providing consultancy on organisational leadership for leading brands including Guinness, Irish Distillers, Coca-Cola and Christie-Tyler. Her commitment to a St Margaret’s education was reflected in her decision to enrol both of her sons from Nursery through to Year 6. Her eldest son, Alex, recently graduated from the University of Warwick, and her youngest, Ben, has just finished his A-levels at Hill Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge.
At interview, Mrs Moss spoke passionately of her vision to promote excellence and innovation in teaching and learning at St Margaret’s, which will remain a close-knit family school with a strong identity and a commitment to caring for each of its children. She now looks forward to working closely with the school community to build compassion, resilience and a love of learning in every child.
The appointment of Mrs Moss as Headteacher of St Margaret’s will provide important continuity in the leadership of the school as it prepares to welcome back all children in September. I know you will wish to join me in sending your warm congratulations to Mrs Moss as she prepares to lead the school into an exciting future.
