Paul Bateman opens new Music Chambers

14 October 2009

Mr. Paul Bateman, the conductor, pianist, composer and arranger, has opened our new Music Rooms this morning. He conducted a workshop session with the Orchestra and Choir, culminating in a short performance. Parents of children in the Year 5/6 Chamber Choir and the orchestra were also fortunate to see and hear Mr. Bateman in action. Mr. Bateman then opened the Music Rooms by cutting a ribbon held by the Head Boy and Head Girl.

Paul Bateman is a multi-faceted musician, equally at home playing or conducting classical and light music. His recordings as both conductor and pianist now number over 70 and his arrangements and compositions are performed all over the world by artists such as Lesley Garrett, Sarah Brightman and José Carreras. As pianist with the Kammerspiel Piano Trio he has specialised in contemporary music alongside the classical repertoire. As a conductor he is most associated with the Royal Philharmonic and BBC Concert Orchestras but has also made over 30 film music albums with the City of Prague Philharmonic.
