Early Years

Early Years' Education is increasingly acknowledged as having a significant effect on the future development of children. The first five years are a particularly receptive time for learning, and children learn more quickly during this formative time than at any other time in their lives.

Our development programme for young children is broad and balanced, with knowledge, concepts, skills and attitudes being learned through activities that are relevant and inter-related. Children do not learn in a compartmentalised way. Through our programme the children develop confidence in their growing abilities. The adults in our Early Years department are trained to recognise and extend children's strengths, and with our adult-to-child ratio, it enables them to respond sensitively and appropriately to the needs of the individual children.
Talking and listening are central to all activities. Much of children's learning takes place through interaction with the environment which is why great importance is attached to creating the right environment for learning, linking wherever possible, with the child's home environment.
Every child is entitled to the best possible start on the ladder of education. We understand that experiences in the first five years have to be stimulating, challenging and, above all, enjoyable. Our guiding principle of Early Years' Education is that learning should be fun.
